In Los Angeles, Education through Arts, has all but been eliminated from School Budgets, but there is a city wide effort to support the arts; the story of Festival de la Gente provides a unique insight into the cultural diversity of Los Angeles, this film profiles several local public servants, businesses, artist, musicians and students, who collaborate to create the largest celebration of it’s kind. This Dia De Los Muertos Community Celebration features the Streets of Boyle Heights Decorated with 20ft Tall Paper Mache Puppets, Created by typical urban students who dared to dream big! The movie also showcases the many up-and-coming bands that have emerged from the main stage at Festival De La Gente. The decade long journey of this small community event, from parking lot fundraiser to community street festival, told in this Documentary Film, offers as much insight on the current renaissance of Art, Music & Culture in Los Angeles as it does about Money, Politics and Public Education in the largest industrial city in America.
